Mandevilla Sanderi - 50 Seeds - Brazilian Jasmine Beautiful and Colorful Fragrance Blooms Easy Care Requirement

Mandevilla Sanderi (Brazilian Jasmine) Seeds – Tropical Flowering Vine for Trellises, Fences & Containers

Transform your garden into a tropical paradise with Mandevilla Sanderi, also known as Brazilian Jasmine. This stunning flowering vine is prized for its lush, glossy green foliage and spectacular trumpet-shaped blooms that add vibrant color to patios, gardens, pergolas, fences, and trellises throughout the growing season. Many varieties also produce a light, pleasant fragrance, making them a favorite among gardeners looking to create an inviting outdoor space.

Plant Features

  • Beautiful glossy green foliage

  • Large trumpet-shaped tropical flowers

  • Fast-growing climbing vine

  • Excellent for trellises, arbors, pergolas, fences, and containers

  • Long blooming season from spring through fall

  • Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators

  • Can be pruned into a compact shrub or trained as a climbing vine

In warm climates, Mandevilla Sanderi grows vigorously by twining around supports, creating an impressive vertical display. In containers, hanging baskets, or smaller gardens, regular pruning encourages a fuller, bushier plant while maintaining its abundant blooms.

Growing Requirements

Mandevilla thrives in warm, sunny locations and performs best in:

  • USDA Zones 9–11 (grown as a perennial)

  • Full sun to partial shade

  • Rich, well-drained soil

  • Regular watering during active growth

  • Protection from frost and freezing temperatures

In cooler climates, it is commonly grown as an annual or overwintered indoors in a bright, sunny location.

How to Grow Mandevilla Sanderi from Seed

1. Prepare the Soil

Fill seed trays or small pots with a light, well-draining seed-starting mix. A blend of peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite provides excellent drainage and aeration.

2. Sow the Seeds

Place the seeds on the soil surface and gently press them into the growing medium. Cover lightly with a thin layer of soil, as excessive depth may reduce germination.

3. Provide Warm Temperatures

Maintain temperatures between 70–80°F (21–27°C) for the best germination results. A seedling heat mat can help provide consistent warmth.

4. Keep Soil Moist

Keep the growing medium evenly moist but never soggy. Mist the soil regularly if necessary to prevent it from drying out.

5. Increase Humidity

Cover the seed tray with a clear humidity dome or plastic wrap to retain moisture and create ideal germination conditions. Vent occasionally to reduce excess condensation.

6. Germination

Mandevilla seeds may take several weeks to several months to germinate. Once seedlings appear, remove the cover and provide bright, indirect sunlight.

7. Transplant Seedlings

After seedlings develop several sets of true leaves and reach a few inches in height, transplant them into larger containers. Handle young plants carefully to protect their delicate root systems.

8. Ongoing Care

Place young plants in bright light and water whenever the top inch of soil becomes dry. Avoid overwatering, as consistently wet soil may lead to root problems.

9. Harden Off

Before planting outdoors, gradually acclimate seedlings over 7–10 days by exposing them to increasing amounts of outdoor sunlight and weather.

10. Plant Outdoors

After the danger of frost has passed, transplant into a sunny garden location with well-drained soil. Provide a trellis, arbor, fence, or other support so the vines can climb and flourish.

  • Tropical gardens

  • Cottage gardens

  • Patio containers

  • Hanging baskets

  • Trellises and arbors

  • Pergolas

  • Privacy screens

  • Butterfly and hummingbird gardens

With proper care, Mandevilla Sanderi (Brazilian Jasmine) rewards gardeners with vigorous growth, lush foliage, and breathtaking tropical blooms that create a colorful display from spring until frost.
